Easter Fun in Pre-School


Easter Stay and Play


This week Mr Vickery the dentist visited us we learnt about how to keep our teeth healthy by making good choices with food and drinks.

We practiced brushing our teeth. Thank you Mr Vickery.


We welcomed lots of Mummy’s and Grandparents today for our Mother’s Day stay and play.


This week we have learnt how Drs and nurses can help us when we are ill.

The children were excited to have the role play as a hospital and enjoyed dressing up and using the role play toys.

We made our own x-rays and made a Dr’s bag.

We enjoyed listening and watching Dr Ranj.


This week we celebrated world book day by dressing up as our favourite book characters. We listened to stories and shared books together. We love books.📕


This week we have been Police officers. A painting had been stolen and we helped to solve the crime by following the clues.


Our new topic is Who can help me? We started by exploring the role of the fire fighter. Our rhyme of the week was 5 little firemen and by the end of the week the children were joining in with words or actions.

We painted with forks to make fires and used spray bottles to put out pretend fires.


Welcome back to preschool. We hope you had a lovely half term.

This term our topic is People who help us.

We will be thinking  about the role of Doctors, police, firefighters, dentist and vets. We will also be celebrating World book day, Mother’s day and Easter.

Remember to check your child’s tapestry which is updated weekly.

This week we have read guess how much I love you. We have stretched our arms as high and as far as we can reach like the hares.

We enjoyed sensory lay, flower arranging and painting pictures for people we love.


We had a lovely stay and play today, thank you for coming.

This week the children have enjoyed the story of the gingerbread man.

We enjoyed mixing and rolling our dough and we recreated the story of the gingerbread man in our story tuff spot.

We chased the gingerbread man on the daily mile.


This week we have listened to the story of the 3 Billy goats gruff.

We made rives, painted goats and recreated the story using the Early years bridge.


Today we celebrated Luna New Year.

We ate noodles, rice and prawn crackers. We met a very friendly lion and learnt to dance like him. We listened to different music, danced.

We painted snakes red and yellow, lucky colours to celebrate the year of the snake.


This week our story was the 3 little pigs.

The children repeated the refrains and acted out the story with puppets.

We made our own pigs getting very messy with the paint and we blew paint like the wolf.

We are becoming brilliant story tellers.


This week our story has been Goldilocks and the three bears.

We have enjoyed listening to the story, and then retelling it ourselves either looking at a book or in the small world.

We enjoyed eating porridge for snack it tasted just right.

We made houses for Goldilocks and the bears in the duplo.


Preschool would like to thank the PTFA for funding a visit from the animal lady this morning.

We held a corn snake, a honey bear, a gecko a Guinea pig and lots of other animals. It was very exciting to have these animals in school.


This week our theme has been frozen. We have danced to Let it go from frozen.

We have talked about what happens when the ice gets warm. Some of the children were able to use key language such as frozen, freezing, icy.

The children all enjoyed creating their own interpretations of a snowman.


Happy New Year and welcome back to the spring term.

In Spring 1 our topic is Once upon a time where we will explore several different traditional tales. We will also celebrate Chinese New Year and Valentine’s Day.

In Spring 2 our topic is people who help us. Once again we hope to have visits from people in our local community to enhance the topic.

During the Spring term we will also be welcoming the animal man which is being funded by the PTFA.

There will be opportunities to come into school for our stay and play sessions, dates will be published in the coming weeks.

PE sessions will be on a Tuesday and Thursday morning.

Your child needs a piece of fruit each day, please label it and place it in the bowl on the trolley.

Don’t forget to look at your child’s tapestry page it will be updated weekly.

We had lots of Christmas fun when our parents joined us for stay and play.


Christmas fun in preschool


Preschool enjoyed the Santa fun run raising money for school.


Christmas fun, posting cards, exploring paint, listening to Christmas stories. We are excited for Christmas.


We had a fabulous trip to see Father Christmas this week. We loved the fair rides, making reindeer food and having a snack with Santa.

A big thank you to the PTFA for subsiding the trip.


Lots of Christmas preparations this week. We have decorated our tree and started to make our decorations.


This week we have focused on Diwali a celebration of light.

The children enjoyed exploring with light in the dark tent, we made the light more quickly and slowly by changing our movements.

We enjoyed Bollywood dancing and making Mehndi patterns.


Preschool had fun in the snow.


Continuing our celebration topic this week we have focused on Birthdays.

The children have iced biscuits, made party hats, played party games and made party decorations. We enjoyed singing Happy Birthday.



This week we have celebrated world nursery rhyme week. We concentrated on 3 rhymes twinkle twinkle little star, old Mac Donald and Incy windy spider. The children enjoyed poring water to make the spiders move down the spout, we named the animals on the farm and made special stars.


This week we have started our new topic celebrations, we started by celebrating bonfire night.

We watched the fireworks on the large screen and listened to the different noises. With then pretended to be fireworks holding different coloured voile as we moved about the outside space.

We enjoyed mark making with our fingers and sticks to make fireworks in the fine sand.

We enjoyed listening to the story the quiet little firework.


Our final week on our mini-Autumn topic. The children have loved discovering Autumn treasures. We have painted and hammered pumpkins which was so much fun. We enjoyed the story That’s not my hedgehog.


This week we have been exploring Autumn. On our daily walks we noticed the leaves were falling from the trees. We made our own Autumn leaves by rolling conkers in paint.

We squelched and splatted paint to make hedgehogs for our wall display.

We discovered that we could  roll conkers down our water chute, this was great fun as some went really fast.


This week we have been thinking about our homes, who we live with and our local community Pershore.

The children were delighted to see small versions of themselves in our mini tuff spot of Pershore, they enjoyed moving themselves around our Pershore town. Some of the children could recognise familiar areas such as the park and the supermarket.

We painted with duplo bricks to make walls for our houses.

Our story was the 3 little pigs.  


This week we have explored our feelings.

We used the book colour monster to help us identify how we are feeling at different times.

The children started to independently pick up throughout the week and show the adults in preschool the faces and colours.

We made emotion puppets built towers with different coloured bricks and made music which made us happy.


This week we have been thinking about food we like to eat.

We took a walk to the school apple tree and picked our own apples to eat at snack and paint with. It was lots of fun.


In preschool the children are learning  all about themselves. We have made family pictures using natural materials which we collected.

The children bought family pictures in from home which they were very excited to share with us.

This week we are learning about the lifecycle of a caterpillar.

The children were excited to have their own caterpillars in the classroom. We have watched them get bigger and bigger over the week.

We have painted our own caterpillars and made coffee filter butterflies.

We are excited to see the changes that might happen next week.


This week we have been mini explorers, looking for insects in forest school, we found worms, snails, ants, and beetles, some of us were brave enough to hold them.

We painted our hands to make spiders, and practiced picking up the insects with the tweezers.


This week we have explored the jungle. We helped the animals that had got stuck in the jelly, we painted various jungle animals using forks, brushes, pads and our hands. We are practicing using scissors to make a jungle picture.


Preschool celebrated D day on Thursday, we watched the CBeebies film poppies , and then we made medals for the soldiers and shouted “thank you” for their service.


Our new topic is our wonderful world.

Our focus this week has been the farm, we enjoyed cleaning up the animals with brushes and clothes as the animals had got very muddy on the farm.

We painted our own interpretation of earth using pads and brushes.

We also enjoyed listening to Louis Armstrong sing it’s a wonderful world.


Our final week on transport and we have been thinking about which transport was our favourite. 

Lots of children enjoyed the preschool bus.


This week we have explored travel into space by rocket. We packed a picnic and climbed aboard our rocket to have a picn ic on the moon.

We made our own rockets from junk modelling materials and duplo.

We practiced counting down from 10 and saying blast off.


This week Preschool visited the building site next to school. We wore hard hats and high viz jackets, which made us feel very important and safe.

Rob the builder showed us how the diggers move around the site, we saw them scooping soil into the back of the dumper trucks.

The brick layers were levelling the bricks to build a wall and mixing cement.

We had great fun learning to be future builders.


This week we have explored travel by boat. We experimented with finding classroom items that floated and sank.


We are looking at the book You choose by Nick Sharrett. We found different ways of moving around our world with wheels.

Throughout the week, we have rolled wheels painted with cars to make different tracks, and thought about where we could go in our cars.


Lovely to have so many parents in for our Easter stay and play session. 


Today we had a visit from the vets Louie and Sam.

We learnt how to bandage our animals. Our school dog Raffi visited and we listened to his heart through the stethoscope.

This week we have been thinking about how a vet helps the animals.

We enjoyed using the stethoscope and bandages in our vet role play.


We explored the role of firefighters. The children learnt some new topic vocabulary, by finding different topic pictures in the rice. The children were excited to put out chalk fires with water, practicing our fine motor skills.


We explored the role of the Police, we dressed up and enjoyed our Police station role play.


Thank you for coming to our Mother’s day stay and play we had so much fun.


In preschool we dressed up as our favourite book characters and shared stories with each other.


This week our topic has been who can help us when we are ill?

We loved dressing up in our Doctors surgery. We painted our hands to look like X rays. We made our own Doctors bags, we practiced our cutting skills to cut out special items to go inside.

We were so lucky to have a visit from a paramedic with an ambulance and the air ambulance visited as well. This made our week very special.


As part of our topic who can help us? We had an ambulance visit school today. We were able to check our oxygen levels, lie on the stretcher, sit in the drivers seat, put the lights on and sound the horn.

This visit supported the children’s understanding of our topic.


Preschool celebrated Chinese New year. The children loved wearing the dragon mask, trying noodles and prawn crackers.

We had fun trying to use chop sticks.


This week we have explored the story of the 3 little pigs.

We have huffed and puffed like the big wolf.

Listened to the story and  re-enacted it in the story tuff spot.


We have finished our topic with the story of the gingerbread man.

The children made their own gingerbread men, we enjoyed mixing, stirring and rolling.

By the end of the week we were repeating “run, run as fast as you can”

We are great story tellers.


We have had lots of fun this week in preschool and even had a visit from Santa.

Paul Sturgess visited Preschool this week, he is the world’s tallest basketball player.

This week we visited Father Christmas.

the children were excited to travel on a big bus to Worcester.

When we arrived, we had a ride on the fair, took a wintery walk looking for Father Christmas’s reindeer. We then visited Father Christmas in his big yurt, he gave us a special teddy to keep.

This week we have learnt about world celebrations. We listened to a story about a wedding, made diya lamps, mendhi patterns, we enjoyed exploring coloured patterns on the light table.
